This painting was inspired by the Wolf Blood Moon eclipse of January 2019. The presence of both the eclipse and the Milky Way suggests the idea that even when clarity is temporarily obscured, the path still exists.

In Blackfeet tradition, the Milky Way is understood as the Wolf Trail—a luminous path across the night sky made by wolves traveling between the earthly and spirit worlds, marking a way of guidance and direction. The wolf, the moon, and the stars come together here as interconnected forces, each speaking to instinct, movement, and awareness.

I’m drawn to the layered meaning held within this work—the way natural elements, story, and symbol speak to one another—creating a painting that is less about a single moment and more about listening, remembering, and finding one’s way through change.
